New England Paperweight Collectors Association Spring 2017 Meeting at the Holiday Inn Hotel & Suites, 265 Lakeside Ave., Marlboro, MA (508) 481-3000. The morning speaker will be Kirk Nelson speaking on "The Contemporary Paperweight Collection of Richard Schimmelpfeng". The afternoon speaker will be glass artist Michael Hunter of Twists Glass, Scotland. His talk, "My life in glass", covers the 42 years from start to the present. In addition to the speakers, New England PCA artist and dealer members set up display tables with over 1,000 paperweights, so each meeting is like a mini-convention. The meeting will also have a show-and-tell contest with prizes. Advance registration is required to attend the morning program and luncheon. Open to the public starting at 1:30 PM. Guest rooms at the Holiday Inn Hotel & Suites are $109 if reserved by Friday, April 14, 2017. Registrations must be received by Friday, April 28. ALISON RUZSA VISITS CHICAGO
Sharon Gilbert, owner of Talisman Glass Studio (www.talismanglass.com) is graciously opening her studio for a not-to-be-missed demonstration by New York Glass Artist, Alison Ruzsa. Plan to have great fun with other paperweight enthusiasts at Talisman Glass Studio, including with lunch at Salerno's Restaurant, meeting a very important contemporary artist, buying and selling paperweights, and celebrating the art of the paperweight. This will be NEPCA's 40th Anniversary and we are planning a special program. The focus will be on New England artists, and in addition to the speakers, New England PCA artist and dealer members will set up display tables with over 1,000 paperweights, so the meeting is like a mini-convention.
