Current and Upcoming Exhibits
Paperweight collectors are commonly interested in many types of glass art. We try to maintain a listing of exhibits where you can see not only paperweights but also blown, sculpted, etched, engraved, and assembled creations in glass, especially those where work by PCA-registered artists is included. Many exhibits listed here also have an on-line presence, but all are in places that you can visit to see glass art in person. Where noted, we may sponsor exhibits or the institutions that provide them. Otherwise, however, we are not implying that the Paperweight Collectors Association claims credit or responsibility for these exhibits or the artwork in them.
PAPERWEIGHT COLLECTOR’S ASSOCIATION MEMBER ARTIST SHOWCASEBergstrom Mahler Museum of Glass In celebration of the biennial meeting of the Paperweight Collector’s Association taking place in Appleton, Wisconsin from May 18 through May 21, 2022, submitted work of PCA member artists will be on exhibit in the Mabel R. McClanahan Memorial Study Gallery. The Paperweight Collectors Association, Inc. (PCA) is a non-profit organization dedicated to appreciating and collecting glass paperweights. For over a half century, PCA has championed the study and collection of antique, vintage and contemporary glass paperweights. The mission of PCA is to promote education: to increase knowledge about paperweights, their creators, and the astounding glass medium from which they are created. New On View
This exhibition showcases more than 200 acquisitions of paperweights and contemporary studio glass collected by Bergstrom-Mahler Museum of Glass during the past three years. A special highlight includes a significant selection of antique and contemporary glass paperweights from the collection of longtime supporters Gary and Marge McClanahan. New On View includes important works from artists such as Lisabeth Sterling, Marvin Lipofsky, Ken Rosenfeld, Debbie Tarsitano, and Marc Petrovic, many of which have never been publicly exhibited.

Glass Lifeforms 2021
Every single one of the six PCA artists who entered the upcoming “Glass Lifeforms 2021” exhibit at the Fuller Craft Museum in Massachusetts was accepted by their prestigious panel of jurors. Quoting here from the museum’s web site at https://glasslifeform.org/, “ ’Glass Lifeforms 2021’ will be an exhibition of the best biological glass models made in the spirit of the famous 19th and 20th century models of invertebrates and plants made by the father and son team, Rudolf and Leopold Blaschka for the Harvard University’s Botanical Museum. Models were mandated to be of specific species and rendered as accurately as possible, but artistic presentation and creative contexts were strongly encouraged. Artists working in any glass technique (lampworking, glassblowing, casting, pâte de verre, etc.) were invited to submit an entry (one per artist or collaborative team). The jurying criteria was based on accuracy in representing the organism, aesthetic beauty, presentation, and originality. 53 pieces were selected from the work submitted for the exhibit.”
That’s quite an accomplishment for each of them, and it speaks well for the level of talent that we have in all of our PCA artists. Visit the web site for more details. Many paperweight collectors have broad interests in glass art, so we know you will enjoy the entire show -- outstanding creations by some of the finest glass artists in the world. There will be both an online catalog and a printed catalog of the juried show. The “open” show – entries not specially selected by the jurors -- will be available online as well.
